DMMS Robotics Program
Robotics 1 and Robotics 2 are semester long classes. Students can take Robotics 2 as many times as they would like, as the Vex Competition games change each year to bring new learning opportunities. This middle school Robotics course introduces students to the exciting world of robotics through hands-on building, basic programming, and collaborative problem-solving. Using VEX IQ, students will explore how robots work, learn to code using block-based programming, and apply engineering concepts to design and control their own robotic creations. Through weekly challenges and team projects, students will develop critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills while gaining a foundational understanding of robotics and its real-world applications.
In our Robotics class, students work in teams to design, build, code, and operate robots for
competitions. Teams typically meet weekly to work on their robot and document their progress in an engineering notebook. Robotic competitions we call intramurals involve teams using their robots to complete specific challenges under predefined rules.
You can choose to purchase some Robotics Swag to wear on Friday’s Spirit Day. The store is open the first two weeks of every month, and the merchandise gets shipped to your house. We wear our spirit wear to the district Intramural competitions and on Friday spirit Day.
